Upgrading to PHP-Fusion v7 from PHP-Fusion v6.01.15 |
|
In this tutorial I will show you the correct way to upgrade from PHP-Fusion v6.01.15 to PHP-Fusion v7. There have been comments from users that the upgrade isn't working as it should. I must say up front that I upgraded from a clean and fresh install of v6.01.15, I haven't done an upgrade with a previous working PHP-Fusion site with content. But, as long as you didn't use lot's of third party infusions and mods there shouldn't be much problems. Before we continue, I advise you to remove/disable all third party mods and infusions. The standard infusions and panels of PHP-Fusion are compatible with PHP-Fusion v7 (as far as I have seen).
Ok, here we go. Below is a screenshot of the fresh v6.01.15 PHP-Fusion admin panel.
Yep, fresh! Now, let's start with the upgrade. Download PHP-Fusion v7 from the PHP-Fusion website. When done, open the package and extract it locally to your hard drive. Open the folder and go to the folder named "upgrade v601x". There you will find one file called "upgrade.php". Upload this file to your PHP-Fusion v6.01.xx site in the "administration" folder, it should be overwriting the already existing "upgrade.php". Now, go to your website and login as administrator. Go to "Admin Panel" and click on "System Admin". Click on the "Upgrade Button": The upgrade button in your admin panel Yeey, we can start the upgrade to PHP-Fusion v7! Now click on the button "Upgrade" and we are off to PHP-Fusion 7! The first step will take a bit, when succeeded you will see the below text: Now, click on the "Next" button. As you may have already noticed, this step takes a while. In this step PHP-Fusion will alter the existing database tables. Ok, let's continue to step 3. Again, click on "Next". This should be a short step, the upgrade script fills the new added tables with data.
Ok, up to the final step of the upgrade progress. Click "Next". In this step some other tables are being altered. You should see: Yeey! Done!
Well if you may have noticed, you get errors on your website. True, nothing wrong, v7 is using quite a different structure so we will need to upload all new files.
You are probably seeing this error now, no worries.
Upload all files in the v7 installation package in the folder named "Files". The files from the "Files" folder should overwrite all v6.01.15 files. When done, refresh your PHP-Fusion powered website. It should load the new theme. You will see 2 notifications above the center panel: Well both are very self explaining. First, delete the setup.php file which is located in the root. Second, click on the link in the second notification. (edit profile). Now set a new admin password (PHP-Fusion v7 is extra secure with an admin password). I don't know why but the official installation/upgrade guide in the package tells us to CHMOD the "images/photoalbums/submissions" folder to 777. When I checked mine, it was already CHMOD-ed to 777. Anyhow, everything should work now. Good luck with PHP-Fusion v7! If you run in any problems, you are more then welcome to post it on the support forum! |
